Short Term Scientific Missions

EuMixFor invites STSM candidates to submit their complete applications until 20th March 2015. Any application received after this period will be disregarded. A maximum of 11 STSMs has been approved in the annual budget for 2015.
The evaluation of applications will be carried out from 20th March 2015 until 31st March 2015. The evaluation panel is comprised of the Steering Committee of the Action. The evaluation criteria, approved by the MC, are the following:

  • The application meets the scope of the action (0-5 points);
  • The applicant is an ESR, meaning PhD student or finished PhD no more than 8 years ago (0 or 3 points);
  • Inclusiveness of host and/or applicants is guaranteed (0 or 2 points) See COST Mission and Strategy for details;
  • Applicant’s CV (0 or 1 point). An equilibrating gender balance will be guaranteed whenever possible.

STSMs will start on 6th April 2015 and latest be finish by 20th November 2015 (minimum duration of STSM is 5 days and maximum 90 days).
STSM applicants must be engaged in a research programme as a postgraduate student or post-doctoral fellow, or be employed by or officially affiliated to an institution or legal entity. To apply for a STSM the applicant must fill in the on-line form (see below) and submitt all required annexes by email to the STSM Coordinator at smb@isa.ulisboa.ptand to the host. The host should send his/her agreement to host the STSM to the STSM coordinator.

To apply for a STSM you should follow the first 4 steps described below. A complete application is composed of the online form plus the annexes. The whole process of STSM is summarized as follows:
1. The Applicant contacts the host institution
2. The Host Institution informs the applicant by email whether is willing to accept him or not
3. The Applicant downloads the online (see https://e-services.cost.eu/stsm ) form after filling in the following:

  • the Action number;
  • the title of the planned STSM;
  • the start and end date;
  • the applicant’s details, including key academic details and workplan;
  • the applicant’s bank details;
  • the host institution’s;
  • financial data (amount for travel and subsistence)

4. The Applicant sends all the above mentioned documents to the STSM coordinator (online form+annexes)

  • Letter of Support from the Home Institution
  • Host Acceptance Letter (Written Agreement of the host institution) (STSM_HostAcceptanceLetter_template)
  • Detailed Work Plan
  • Applicant CV (1 page + publication list at least 5 years back. If the applicant has no publications, the CV of the supervisor as well as a letter of support must also be attached).
  • Motivation Letter (STSM_MottivationLetter_template)

The application must be submitted as one single pdf-file attached to an email to the STSM Coordinator atsmb@isa.ulisboa.pt and to the STSM host institution.
